MC-Squared: Designed real-time processes for Time-Slot Interchange (TDM) Bus Manager (w/ load sharing), "A"(GSM 12.22) to "Abis" (GSM 12.21) Cross-Connect Manager, T1/E1 Span Manager, Clock Distribution Manager, Radio Interface Layer 3 Mobility Management and Call Control/Management (GSM 4.07/4.08) and the Central Office Terminal (COT) Interface using SDL to encode the Call Processing protocol and other real-time processes. Developed real-time C code under COSMOS Real-Time Operating System on 68360-based CPUs within the Aydin Corp GSM-lite Base Station Controller and Network Access Subsystem (Mobile Switching Center and other Network Switching Subsystem components) and Multiple Subscriber Unit for this GSM Wireless Local Loop product. The COT portion of the product comprises the Network Acess Subsystem (NAS), which interfaces to the Local Exchange and provides call control, and the Base Station Controller (BSC), which manages radio resources for both 900MHz and 1.8GHz bands (configurable for other bands). The Base Transceiver Station (BTS) includes multiple transcoder and rate adapters implementing vocoder and fax/data interworking functions, as well as transceivers implementing channel coding, framing, and modulation/demodulation. The product supports both custom subscriber units interfacing to standard two-wire POTS phones as well as commercial off-the-shelf GSM phones. [Aydin Corp is now L3 Communications' GNS division]
